School Night For Scouting

Thursday Sept 16th 2010, 7:00 pm at the Plainwell Community Center.

Is this the ONLY time you can sign up….NO, but it is the best.

Here’s what we will do:

  • We’ll spend the first 15 minutes discussing what a Pack, Rank and Den are, how you son fits into it and what our pack is going to do for the scouting year.
  • We’ll talk about your (the Parent) roll in our Pack.
  • Next we’ll cover all the forms that need to be filled out
  • Finally, we’ll meet by age group and determine dens. Some boys will be placed in existing dens while others will form new dens. It all depends on the number of boys that show up. All first graders will form new dens as there are no first grade dens at this time (last years dens have moved up a rank). New dens will select a leader, and a place, day and time to meet. We will be there to help you with this process.

You may of course bring your son (and your daughter). We will have activities for the kids.

As you can see, if you show up to this meeting, you will have a say in the place, day and time of your sons weekly meeting. If you don’t, you can still sign up, but, you will have to accept what has already been determined.

How much does it cost? First, let me say that no child will be turned away because of need. If you want your son involved in Cub Scouts, come and join us. If you don’t feel you can afford it, simply pull the Cubmaster aside at the meeting and he will get you signed up (at no cost). All we ask in return is that you participate in the fundraisers. Now, having said that, the sign up fee will be $18 for the 2010-2011 scouting year. Uniforms, books and other supplies can run $80 or more. See our forms section for an actual order form. Yes, hand me down uniforms will be just fine! Can afford signups but not a uniform…let us know, we may have some boy tested uniforms available.
